China biotech Geneweldes has completed a Series A funding round raising tens of millions of RMB, led by Hofon Capital. The synthetic biology company, founded in 2022, focuses on developing recombinant collagen and functional peptides for medical aesthetics and skincare applications using pharmaceutical-grade manufacturing standards. Its pipeline includes recombinant human full-length collagen and antimicrobial peptides, with lead products already completing pilot-scale production.
The funding will accelerate commercialisation of Geneweldes' collagen-based biomaterials, which have demonstrated industry-leading expression levels in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell systems. The company has established partnerships with cosmetic manufacturers to develop efficacy-driven active ingredients, creating a closed-loop "science-product-industry" model from molecular design to mass production.
