Pfizer Grows 5% in Q1'26, CDK4/6i Leadership Changes Hands

Pfizer has reported Q1 2026 total revenue of USD 14.6 billion, a 5% increase, with product sales rising 4% to USD 11.7 billion. R&D investment grew 13% to USD 2.5 billion. Key growth drivers included the antibody-based drugs Padcev (enfortumab vedotin) and Elrexfio (elranatamab), and the ALK inhibitor Lorbrena (lorlatinib). The oncology segment grew 9% to USD 3.8 billion.

Notably, the competitive landscape for CDK4/6 inhibitors shifted, with Novartis's Kisqali (ribociclib) taking the lead with sales of USD 1.5 billion, followed by Eli Lilly's Verzenio (abemaciclib) and Pfizer's Ibrance (palbociclib), which grew 3% to USD 1.0 billion.

Pfizer highlighted 2026 as a critical R&D year, with approximately 20 pivotal trials underway. Key focus areas include the Phase III program for its once-monthly GLP-1 candidate, berobenatide (PF'3944), new oncology indications, and the potential regulatory submission for its Lyme disease vaccine, VLA15. The company reiterated its full-year 2026 revenue guidance of USD 59.5 billion to USD 62.5 billion.
