Lilly H1 2026: Tirzepatide Reaches USD 27.7bn, Revenue Up 49%

Eli Lilly posted first-half 2026 total revenue of USD 42.773 billion, up 49% year-on-year, with US sales of USD 26.532 billion (+37%), China at USD 1.635 billion (+73%), and rest-of-world ex-US/EU/Japan at USD 5.648 billion (+151%).

Tirzepatide (Mounjaro plus Zepbound) delivered USD 27.693 billion (+88%), opening a USD 10.2 billion gap over semaglutide's USD 17.530 billion and securing Lilly's position as the top pharmaceutical revenue earner among global majors in the period. Orforglipron (Foundayo) contributed USD 98 million in its first quarter, and retatrutide has completed five Phase III trials with a planned New Drug Application in early 2027.

The company raised full-year guidance to USD 85.0 to 87.0 billion from the USD 82.0 to 85.0 billion range set in April, underpinned by sustained incretin penetration and manufacturing scale-up. Lilly's oral small-molecule GLP-1 orforglipron and the triple-agonist retatrutide provide a staged follow-on wave to tirzepatide, whilst the 73% China growth signals rapid uptake in a market where local oral GLP-1 candidates from Hengrui and Innovent are also advancing, setting up a contested but expanding metabolic therapeutics landscape.
