On 30 July, China-based AllianThera Biopharma and Germany's Dr. Falk Pharma announced a strategic collaboration to co-develop ATB102, an AHR agonist currently in Phase I trials in the US for moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis (UC). Under the agreement, Dr. Falk Pharma gains exclusive global rights (excluding Greater China) to the gut-targeted small molecule, which has shown pre-clinical efficacy in restoring immune homeostasis and repairing mucosal barriers. AllianThera will receive upfront payments, milestones and tiered royalties while retaining Greater China rights.
ATB102 represents a new mechanism targeting intestinal inflammation through AHR modulation, with potential to address unmet needs in inflammatory bowel disease. AllianThera CEO Yuan-hua Ding noted the partnership accelerates development of this "best-in-class candidate" with Dr. Falk's gastrointestinal expertise.
