BI Celebrates Strong H1'26 Growth Driven by Human Pharma Expansion

Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) posted total revenue of EUR 15.8 billion (USD 18.0 billion) for the first half of 2026, a 16.2% increase adjusted for currency, with Human Pharma contributing EUR 13.1 billion (+20.1%) and Animal Health contributing EUR 2.6 billion (+0.4%).

The robust performance was primarily fuelled by the continued success of Jardiance (empagliflozin), which generated EUR 5.7 billion (USD 6.5 billion) in sales, alongside the successful US commercialisation of two newer assets: Jascayd (nerandomilast) for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and Hernexeos (zongertinib) for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Without the volume effect of Jardiance, Human Pharma growth would have aligned more closely with the overall market average.

Looking at the full-year trajectory, the group appears poised to potentially surpass EUR 30 billion (USD 34.3 billion) in total revenue, while Jardiance sales alone could exceed EUR 10 billion excluding the partnered share attributed to Eli Lilly.
