IASO Biotherapeutics has secured IND clearance in the US for IASO208, a replication-incompetent, self-inactivating third-generation lentiviral vector using a COCV-G engineered envelope to selectively bind and transduce T-cells in vivo, encoding a second-generation humanised CD20 CAR without apheresis or lymphodepletion.
Backed by Chinese investigator-initiated trial (IIT) data, the asset moves straight into a Phase Ib study in adults with relapsed or refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (r/r B-NHL), with 11 patients already dosed in the IIT and early signals described as tolerable and antitumour-active, skipping the cell-manufacturing bottleneck that defines autologous CAR-T.
The strategic prize is outpatient, off-the-shelf in vivo cell therapy: IASO208 targets the same CD20 B-cell malignancy space as approved autologous products from Novartis, Gilead/Kite, and Bristol Myers Squibb, but removes vein-to-vein wait, manufacturing failure, and high-cost centralised production.
