Baicreat's Oral STAT6 PROTAC Clears China IND

Baicreat has won an approval from its China homeland's Centre for Drug Evaluation (CDE) to start clinical trials with BCR-0008, an orally delivered STAT6-targeting PROTAC degrader, against one of inflammation drug discovery's hardest targets: STAT6 sits downstream of IL-4 and IL-13 signalling, drives atopic dermatitis, asthma and other Th2-mediated disease, and lacks the deep small-molecule pocket that conventional medicinal chemistry exploits. Preclinically, BCR-0008 degrades STAT6 at picomolar levels, shuts down the IL-4/IL-13 axis, reverses Th2 inflammation in atopic dermatitis and asthma models, shows strong oral exposure and tissue distribution, and avoided drug-related safety signals in toxicology work.

The advance is less a single-product story than a platform validation. Baicreat's PROTAC engine pairs in-house linker design, AI-assisted design and screening, and a next-generation degrader chemistry claimed to fix the microsomal-metabolism instability that has plagued many degradation programmes, enabling lower-dose, better-tolerated oral regimens.
